Service Representative Collections Job Responsibilities:
compute, quote and process adjustments, balances, charges, etc.
validate and update credit information
may appear in small claims court to substantiate monies owed
originate collection letters and notices
refer accounts to outside collection agencies
intiate and process legal documents
review billing and toll inquiries associated with collections
research and handle lost, unidentified or misapplied payments
make decisions regarding the extension of credit or disconnection/reinstatement of service
keep detailed records of customer contacts in company databases
may process bankruptcy claims
work simultaneously with multiple computer applications and databases
Skills Required:
strong communication skills
basic computer and keyboarding
ability to type at least 40 words per minute
basic math
Special Requirements:
ability to sit for long periods of time
may be required to work nights and weekends
highly organized and detail oriented
ability to work independently without a lot of supervision

Service Representative Collections Description:
Work in a fast-paced call center environment to collect past-due payments on residential and business customers' accounts through outbound and inbound telephone contact. This role requires good communication skills and the ability to act respectfully yet forcefully. Sometimes customers fall behind on their payments. In this role, you'll be the one to negotiate payment arrangements and accurately compute quotes and adjustments to balances when necessary. You'll have the autonomy to make decisions regarding extension of customer credit. When the situation warrants legal action, you will initiate and process necessary legal documentation and may appear in Small Claims Court to substantiate monies owed.
